FireWorks is a 5-week program for playwrights to develop and specify their plays. FireWorks was the first step in our mission of growing and rewriting and exploring plays live, in a room, together.

About the program

Each FireWorks playwright received:

  1. 8 hours of rehearsal space a week

  2. A cast of actors, suited to their play's character breakdown

  3. A director, who works with them to create a workshop process suited to their rewrite goals

  4. $200 stipend

Given those resources, playwrights and directors were free to organize their rehearsal processes as they like.

A group of actors and artists gather around a table reading a play.
FireWorks was run with the generous support of the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center and the Brick Aux.
