in a provincial town outside of Rio de Janeiro, there lived a doctor who just could not get enough of Science. For Dr Simão Bacamarte, every brain, every phenomenon was worth dissecting. To satisfy his curiosity, the Doctor persuaded his local Town Council to build an insane asylum. It was a beautiful, many-windowed building with green shutters. The townspeople called it the Casa Verde, or Green House.
"Greenhouse" is an interactive theater adaptation of O Alienista that asks: when public institutions crumble, who can you trust? As Dr Bacamarte's Casa Verde apprehends an increasing number of citizens, audience members must vote, chant, and follow the characters they find most trustworthy.
